We recommend John Scalzi, Starter Villain. Not ruin surprise endings (several!) but poor loser human finds himself in middle of James Bond spy/villain parody adventure, but with talking union organizing dolphins and truly amazing cat or two with attitudes. We laughed until we cried😹😹😹😹😹lots of fun!

I read a lot of John Scalzi books and have a lot of them on my library wait list. His books are very popular. I’m a stickler for reading books from a series in chronological order and so waiting for the next book to become available is like waiting for the next season of a favourite show to be released.

Sea of Tranquility by Emily St John Mandel

The Wolf Hall series by Hilary Mantel if you like historical fiction.

I’m 20 years behind in reading but have put both in my list! I watched Station Eleven series, found it grueling to watch but impossible to stop.

I read Station Eleven before the tv series was produced. I know it's cliche but the book is MUCH better. I also recommend The Glass Hotel. If you do read Sea of Tranquility, it will reference some characters and events in The Glass Hotel even though Sea of Tranquility is a completely separate and different story from The Glass Hotel.

Yes, books are generally better than TV/movie versions! I loved The TV Expanse series but the books are much much better. Did you see my post in The Three Body Problem? https://sharonhom.substack.com/?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=substack_profile

No, I haven’t seen your post but will do that now. I have the book series on my library borrowing wait list as well. I haven’t watched the Three Body Problem series yet because I want to read the books first.
