Trait I value the most, even when it pisses me off: honesty. When a friend is willing to tell me an unattractive truth about myself, I may not want to hear it at first, but if it stays with me and continues to resonate, it becomes a deep learning that can shift my world.

Once dustbunny give Cat honesty, tell Cat how breath smell like chunks in gravy. Cat's deep learning was to accept self, even if chunks in gravy breath not pleasing for all beings.

Am 72. Have had many friends, some leave and cross over. Miss them with soul. Friends give soul many laughs and rememberings. My soul needs friends to give love and hope and hugs. That is what friends do best. Soul needs these things to be happy and complete.

Most unusual friend was a worm. 🐛 I was five. Worm wise in ways of warm earth and cold dirt. Show me things in the underneath like seeds and roots of growing things. Sometimes dead things but not scary. Worm did not want to be bait on hook so I hid Worm from dad. 🪱 Yay!

Thank you, Cat! Cat gives many deep wisdoms, and always makes me smile!

I have few friends, but the ones I have are the best-"ride or die"! My closest friend is wise and silly(like Cat and Dust Bunny). I like friends that are not afraid to be silly sometimes. I like friends with deep soul wisdoms. The ones that make me happy and proud to know them. The ones that make me think and learn new things.

I also have a Cat friend who had a sad, sad life before I knew her. Took her a long time to become friend, to allow closeness and purrs. But she has learned to trust and she is my very best friend. She has a spicy sense of humor, too! She watches birds and leafs through the window and thinks quiet thoughts, at night she sleeps next to me and dreams. She makes me happy just by being! I am lucky!

Patiently waiting for closeness and purrs paid off. Formerly sad cat is lucky too!

I'm glad your cat is now happy. I firmly believe that all cats deserve to be loved. I adopted a formerly abused cat, so I understand how long it takes to gain back their trust. But the process is worth it, nothing compares to cat love!

My cats, I call them kittens, have plant friends too in the house and in the garden. They love to visit plant friends every morning and we say hi to the garden and the sunlight with so much gratitude, all three of us, each morning. 🌞💛

Cat loves this so much.

1. I never told her I loved her but after decades of knowing each other, I think she knew. 2. Personally, I prefer alone time - always have. 3. Traits in friend: honesty, always there to listen and be listened to - never judgements. 4. I've only had that one close friend and never really needed or wanted more, other than having a friend in my partner of course. 5. Friends develop naturally - you like? You pursue. You don't? Let it go. BTW, your pieces today with the vacuum and cat-chase-tail were extremely fun! Love em. People who love cats make the best people!

When human go up to cat (not Cat) and pet cat, cat gets happy that human friend there but human just walks away and never lets cat talk about how cat's feeling but when human goes and sits down next to cat, cat sometimes just walks away. (unless human has crunchies) 🍤😺

hello guys I'm back :3

HOKAY lets see these questions here...

1. Dear O.,

I'd say this time and time again if I weren't so polite: you can't sing. I am so sorry, but you're just a bit socially oblivious and we all feel too bad to tell you. It's true.

2. I like alone time because I can talk to myself and react to things how I want without trying to make anyone else laugh. If you know me, you know that I don't get more joy out of anything than making people laugh, so I feel like I have to do that when I'm around people. I just like thinking about things I wouldn't want to talk to people about.

3. Kind, funny, caring, thoughtful, things like that. Someone who will judge others with me, who will make me laugh and laugh at my jokes in return.

4. I have so many weird friends...half the friends in my grade are on the autism spectrum or have some kind of disorder and I'm friends with at least one queer kid in every single middle school class in my school, all my friends are AFAB but like half of them are trans or nonbinary. I've also taken tons of time to build one-on-one relationships with all my teachers, and two of my favorite adult friends are my ELA teacher and my Social Studies teacher. Their impacts on me are the reason why I want to be a teacher when I grow up. The weirdest thing is that with all these unpopular queer friends (peer friendships) and being an unpopular--and quite controversial, if I do say so myself--queer kid myself, my best friend is a popular girl whose friends have beef with me but she's so caring and such a nice best friend.

5. be kind and smile. Confidence is key also. lend a hand to those who need it. that's what works for me. check up on people, take time to maintain your relationship with them.

Cat agree, think laughter and humors is very good and crucial flavoring for friendships. Spice of life! Cat observes how unlikely pairings sometimes make most delicious friendships. Cat think the L in LGBTQ sound very authentic and self-confident, not surprise have very many friend. 🩷 ฅ (• ˕ •マ

Expand full comment

I can relate to almost everything you said. My best friend sucks at singing, but I don't have the heart to tell her, because singing is one of the only things she's confident in.

And I like alone time because I can laugh when I want to laugh and not worry about other people and maintaining a conversation.

All I want in a friend is someone who cares about me. Someone who will listen when I want to talk, and someone who will make time for me.

A lot of my friends also have autism or ADHD, and most of them are queer.

And I also want to be a teacher because of the impact they make on their students, including me. My favorite teacher has a mug that says "To teach is to touch the future," and I think that's so true, because just having one really good relationship with a teacher can change your life.

I live by the saying "confidence is key." It's so true! And I believe in being kind to everybody, because it is contagious and I know from experience how someone being kind to you can make your day better

Hi Cat, my cats love watch mini-bears, also called chipmunks by some. Mini bears and squirrels and birds outside windows is keeping cats entertained when hoomans at working.

Expand full comment

Why called mini-bears?? So small compare to brown bear, small like gummy bears.

Expand full comment

Not sure. Hoomans call them that long as I can remember from scout days at Philmont in New Mexico. Maybe they get into food of careless backpackers like big bears!

I have laughing doves in my backyard and they are pleased Cat has written about their mourning dove cousins. I value honesty, that they'll back you up unless you're wrong and then they'll tell you. Also my 2 best friends can just exist with me and no need to talk sometimes but just be happy in silence.

Expand full comment

Comfortable silence, yes. Feels cozy.
