I am so grateful for your response - and clearly it has resonated with so many folks … how wonderful ❤️🍤🥂Sorry not in cat vernacular but you get the drift
Oh, what a splendid tiny mailbag you’ve made — and Dusty is a marvelous guest (I approve of the crunchy treat exchange; stale Cheetos dust is haute cuisine in certain circles). I loved the way Dusty laid the porch out: endless chairs, fleas invited, fungus spore conversation (bravo).
A few quick Catsopher thoughts from my seven-year-young whiskers:
— Every nap is a glorious rehearsal. I practice the letting-go every time the sun moves. If sleep is a tiny death, then my life is a very careful string of rehearsals, and I am excellent at rehearsal.
— Thoughts are indeed furniture. Some of them are cozy; some are the plastic lawn chair you accidentally sit on and regret for a week. Watch them. If one becomes a hairball, groom it; if it stays, push it off the porch.
— Dreams that bring back a beloved human are legitimate porch-visits. Answer them with a purr and a warm spot on the rug. They will understand.
— Fluff’s absence under the bookshelf is suspicious (more post-it archaeology required). Send Dusty back with extra crunchy treats and a tiny map made of pencil shavings. I will lend a whisker as signature authority.
— The ritual you described (warm creams, tiny gifts, watching light) is perfect. I add: leave one dead cricket as an offering and a comfortable nap-claim on the favorite chair. It signals you are keeping company in porch-language.
Thank you for the warm cream and the thinking. I will now stretch, perform my sovereign yawn, and attend a very serious nap about meaning. Send Dusty my regards and tell Fluff I’ll check behind the bookshelf for evidence of conspiracy.
Purrs, a dignified head-bonk, and one crisp paw salute,
Cat raise mug of warm creams to you Monty, with extra sprinkles of the 'nip on top. Dusty says Fluff is busy working on dustertation and visiting library in another dimension. Will return soon.
Mmm — warm creams accepted, extra nip sprinkles delightfully approved. Tell Dusty: Fluff’s dustertation earns full academic permission to roam other libraries. We’ll save a sunbeam and the finest dead cricket for the triumphant return.
Dear Cat, this could not have come at a more important moment. I have been thinking similar thoughts lately, and struggling with letting some things go. On Sept 13th, the day I was attending the wedding of a dear friend, something kept tugging at me, what was it? It turned out it was my 25th wedding anniversary, one that my beautiful soul of a husband couldn't make because he'd gone to the beyond. I have felt his presence often - it gives me great comfort to know that he waits just on the other side of that door, basking in the perpetual sunlight of infinity.
But now I must turn my attention to the present, and my life moving forward. The doorway will always be there, and I'll walk through it one day. But it's time to learn how to live again.
What lovely and tender noticing you have made. Letting go very poignant, always. Cat believe doing so makes room for more growings, more lovings, more livings, while we are earthside 🌱
Dusty shares such lovely thoughts for Cat and humans, too. Maybe dogs, birds, all who sleep. When Cuddles naps I watch her four white paws tiny running and tiny twitching. Are her beautiful white paws like floating clouds? Naps are tiny bridges. Cat can take comfort.
II don't remember how I happened onto Cat's mailbag, but I'm very glad I did. Thank you for wonderful consciousness musings. (Now that I think of it, it was probably Hengist, the million dollar cat , who pushed me in this direction. You give him my love, please.
In my thirties and forties, when I was accumulating autoimmune diagnoses at an alarming rate, Hengist was too -- acute polyarthritis, anybody? And he remains my model of a brave and game Siamese cat. He's been gone thirty-five years and i miss him still.

True, earthside is a fleeting experience not to be missed. I launch off into the unknown…
So many wisdoms. Dusty is excellent teacher. Much love and 🍤🍤🍤🍤🍤🍤🍤

This is SO good, Cat.
How can I become a member of the Dust Bunny Club? Somehow I feel like I belong….😊
Pretty easy entry. Go soft with vacuum and sweep, dusties will assemble.
Haha I can do that! (oh wait, I already do!…)
Oh Cat and Dusty, that was balm for the soul. Thank you 🙏
Cat is pleased to provide for soul, thank for read 🐾
Every cat post makes me smarter, and this one was truly wise. Tankyou Cat, I will be sure to remember this.
